Mindfulness Colouring!
There was a lovely ambience in each room during our mindfulness colouring class.
Wellness & Friendship Week
Yard Buddies featured in Wellness & Friendship Week recently. The Senior classes set up activities for the younger children showing great initiative in setting up an obstacle course and organising a parachute game. The Junior classes loved working with the older children. The 5th and 6th also created little complimentary pouches with fabulous compliments to put in them. Well done!

Cumann na mBunscol Cross Country Running
Well done to our 2 pupils who took part in the Cumann na mBunscol Cross Country competition in Tralee recently. Both girls showed great heart and determination and represented our school very well.
World Book Day 2023
We had a wonderful day at school celebrating World Book Day. Children dressed up as their favourite book character ranging from princesses to superheroes. Lots of fun at school!
Shrove Tuesday
It was a delightful day at school with the aroma of pancakes filling the classrooms. Children learned all about the feast day and decided what they would ‘give up’ for Lent before sampling some delicious pancakes.
BEE Proud!
At our recent Assembly to celebrate our ‘Work to BEE Proud of’ we were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the children’s Acts of Kindness, progress in cursive writing and their overall work ethic. Well done to all.
Salut!!
There was a big welcome back for our French teacher Miriam. She will visit the school for 8 weeks this year. She was very impressed by how well the children remembered the French words and phrases they learned last year!
St. Brigid’s Cross
Lá Fhéile Bríde was a special day at school. The children made lots of St. Brigid’s Crosses! These were sold locally to raise funds for UHK Palliative Care Unit.
Credit Union Quiz
A big ‘Thank You’ to the two teams who represented our school in the 2023 Credit Union Quiz in Listowel on Friday night. A great effort by all involved!
Badminton Competition
Well done to all the boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class who represented Murhur NS at the Kerry Primary School Badminton Competition in Tralee recently. All pupils were involved in very competitive games and showed great skill, comradery and sportsmanship on the day.
Music Generation Programme
The children are very enthusiastic about our Music Generation Programme with “Ray – the Music Man”. He visits every Thursday. We are so fortunate to be able to avail of this initiative here at Murhur N.S. The children get the opportunity to play collaborative music on various percussion instruments and learn all about different genres! The favourite so far is Rock and Roll!!

Christmas Jumper Day
We are happy to announce that we have raised €225.30 – proceeds of Christmas Jumper Day. This money will go to our local branch of St. Vincent de Paul. Thanks to all who supported this worthy cause!

Advent Wreath
The Junior Room children are learning all about Advent and preparing for Christmas. They visited the church and had a chat about the Advent Wreath and all the coloured candles. They all lit a candle and said a little prayer!
Roots of Empathy Programme
Mrs. Quill and children during our Roots of Empathy programme. The children learned all about the needs of a baby and explored all the different emotions a baby may be feeling. She ended the session with a story called Mother’s Lap and the children were completely captivated! They are all very excited to welcome our Mom and Baby for the next session!
Festive Feeling in the Air!
Children all dressed up in their Christmas jumpers in anticipation of The Toy Show. They were busy helping teacher to bake some cookies and make some delicious hot chocolate! Maybe we have some future chefs here!
Amber Flag
This year Murhur N.S. will be working towards achieving our first Amber Flag. This initiative promotes creating a healthy and inclusive environment that supports mental well-being. ‘Feel Good Friday’ started the day with a sequence of yoga moves lead by the Amber Flag Committee which is made up of children from 1st to 6th class. They have been working behind the scenes preparing lots of ideas that will be rolled out throughout the school.
