We turned on the Christmas lights on Friday 8th December. Children were dressed in their Christmas Jumpers (Radio Kerry Christmas Jumper Day) in support of SVP. Amount raised was €235. A big thank you to the Mail Road Cross Garden Centre for donating the tree and to our wonderful Parents’ Association for helping out as usual!
Lots of spooks and treats before mid-term break. A big thank you for all the generous donations to Brú Columbanus!
Well done to all the children who were awarded a certificate for their ‘Work to be proud of’.
Great excitement at school this week with the arrival of our new 3D PRINTER. The children are very busy getting familiar with the design software, etc. They are eager to get printing!

Children enjoyed a visit from Geoff Hunt of Heritage Ireland to celebrate National Biodiversity Week. Lots of interesting, colourful insects were discovered during a walkabout near our school.
Congratulations to our 6th class who graduated on Tuesday 20th June. We would like to wish them all the best next year in secondary school as they start the next chapter in their lives.
Congratulations everyone! We have just completed our Roots of Empathy programme which broadens our emotional literacy and encourages empathy towards others.
What a day! We had sack races, three legged races, daily mile, welly throwing, wheelbarrow racing, not to mention acres of fun! Well done to all our boys and girls who gave Active Schools Week their all! They cheered on their pals every step of the way!

A lovely few hours were spent yesterday morning in a different frame of mind. Thanks to Paulina, everyone untensed their bodies and calmed their minds down and had some lovely relaxation yoga – Yin. It was fabulous, a big change at the start but the children soon switched over and enjoyed the change of pace and serenity it brought. We are very grateful Paulina thank you for your time and energy.
Buddy up! This morning the Senior Room created and designed some games and activities for the younger classes. They thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the stations and they loved having the older boys and girls to teach them
Active Schools Week was jammed packed for 2023. It began on Monday with a coaching session in Badminton with two coaches from Moyvane Badminton Club. Children practiced their badminton skills in a fun and interactive way. That afternoon, Ms. Finnegan organised activities for every class to give them the opportunity to learn and develop their skills at hurdles, javelin throwing, reaction starts and relay races. On Tuesday, children were coached in basketball by Mrs. Quill. They warmed up their hands with some ball handling and then had a few games of hot seat and a blitz to finish. Wednesday began in a very calm and peaceful way thanks to a parent who volunteered to guide children in meditation and yoga poses. The children learned strategies for breathing effectively and stretching their bodies. The children then took to their bikes and other vehicles with wheels for a drive around the yard to practice balance, agility and learn the rules of the road. Thursday, saw the finals of the Patrick Curtin Memorial Cup come to a close with excellent displays of skill in football from both teams. The senior room also organised and coordinated activities for the younger classes to take part in. On the last day of the week, the week finished on a high as the children enjoyed multiple fun races including egg and spoon race, welly throw, three-legged race, sack race and tug-o-war. A great week full of activity was had by each and every child.
Thanks to the Parents’ Association for arranging for the players to sign the jerseys. Congratulations to the winners of the signed Kerry Jerseys! Big smiles all round. They can wear them this weekend to support the Kerry men and Kerry ladies. Good luck to both teams!
Thanks to our wonderful Parents’ Association who arrived at school today with ice cream for everybody!
There was great excitement at the Patrick Curtin Memorial Tournament at Moyvane G.A.A. pitch recently where the yellow bibs took on the red bibs. Both teams showed great grit, determination and skill with the yellow bibs taking the title on the day! Patrick was a fantastic player for Moyvane and Kerrry. He is a role model for all our children and we keep his memory alive through this annual tournament.
A huge thank you to Patrick’s family who attended the tournament and presented the trophy and medals to the winners. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Vincent Murphy, Castleisland who sponsored the medals. Thanks to referee/teacher Mr. McMahon, Mrs. Curtin and all involved in organising this annual tournament.
Pupils got the opportunity to bring in their best wheels and practice a different form of fitness on bikes, scooters and go-karts.
Pupils from all classes practiced their skills of throwing, catching, dribbling and passing during their basketball sessions. They developed and practiced these skills through drills, activities and games.
