2nd, 3rd and 4th made the best of the bright, sunny morning and took their English lesson outside. They are really enjoying their new novel “Confessions of an Imaginary Friend”. Hopefully we’ll have many days to enjoy outdoor learning.
Yummy Sounds!
This week pupils in our junior room have been learning about sounds in the kitchen and also the properties of heat!
What better way to discover these than by listening to real kitchen sounds and making toast in our Covid-compliant restaurant. All the children rated it a 5-star experience!
Local History
Pupils in 5th and 6th recounted the events of Gortaglanna on the 100th anniversary of the tragedy .

Engineers of the Future
Our 5th and 6th class girls displayed great teamwork during their STEM workshop. We predict some future engineers from this group!

April Birthdays
We celebrated our April birthdays with lots of games, activities and surprises in all classrooms!
Busy Bunch
Some lovely activities done by the Senior Room this week – radio interviews with Sheikh Khalifa in English, 3D Shapes in Maths, PE on our school pitch and Mosaics of Olympic Torches in Art! A busy week at school.
Sewing skills
2nd 3rd and 4th class learned the important life skill of sewing. They were so enthusiastic and produced lovely pieces.
Fun in the sun
Junior room set their rock bugs free after learning all about minibeasts. Making the most of the sunshine they practised fundamental movements in PE, mimed their feelings in Drama and enjoyed lunch outdoors.
Cumann na mBunscol
Great fun was had by all taking part in the Cumann na mBunscol virtual run this morning. Children from 2nd to 6th Class took part. Our daily mile run surely paid off!

PE Sunshine!
We had fabulous weather for PE last week. Some spent time developing their football skills while others spent all their energy on an athletics session. All enjoyed their activities in such space and glorious sunshine.

St. Patrick’s Day 2021
There was a sea of green in Murhur N.S. during Seachtain na Gaeilge. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all both far and near!
World Book Day
World Book Day was on 4th March. 5th and 6th class discussed their favourite books and authors during their Zoom class on the day. They explored the various styles of writing etc. World Book Day encourages children to explore the pleasure of books and reading!
Welcome back!
We welcomed back the pupils from Junior Infants to 4th class on Monday 1st March. All had huge smiles on their faces! 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes took advantage of the fine weather and went for a walk around the Village. They visited the woods, Lime Kiln and took some time at the Gateway of Inspiration to check out all the beautiful artwork created by the children of the Parish and surrounding areas during lockdown!
