Pupils from all classes received coaching and got the opportunity to practice reaction starts, jumping hurdles, throwing javelins and relays.
Badminton
Pupils from all classes began Active Schools Week with a coaching session from the local badminton club. They were taught drills and practiced skills through games.
Cross country
Pupils developed their fitness by participating in the daily mile challenges each week and also competing in the Cumann na mBunscoil competitions.
Buddy Activities
Pupils from the senior classes enjoy organising and facilitating activities for the younger classes.
Walks around the locality
Children frequently enjoy walks through the local forestry and through the village as part of their active breaks.
Cumann na mBunscol
Boys and girls from 3rd to 6th were taught skills throughout the year in football and put their skills to the test when they competed in the Cumann na mBunscoil GAA competitions. Many thanks to parents who volunteered to assist with the coaching of the children during the year.
5-a-side soccer tournament
Boys and girls from 3rd to 6th practiced skills and competed in the 5-a-side soccer tournament organised by the FAI.
Badminton
Pupils from 3rd to 6th competed in a badminton tournament with other schools.
Rugby
Pupils from 1st to 6th received coaching in tag and touch rugby for six weeks from the local rugby club.
Yoga
Children participated in yoga activities to develop balance.
STEM Class
1st 2nd and 3rd were very busying during STEM class using Lego Spike! Great teamwork while creating and building their new designs.
Gymnastics & Drama
Congratulations to these pupils on their recent achievements in gymnastics and drama. Wonderful to have such a diverse range of interest and talent among our pupils.
Amber Flag
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved yet another award here in Murhur NS! We have been awarded our first Amber Flag. The Amber Flag is awarded to schools on their commitment to promoting positive mental health. Pieta House was very impressed with the wide variety of wellbeing activities our school has engaged in this year and was delighted to receive a donation of €345 raised through Crazy Hair Day recently. We look forward to having our flag flying proudly outside our school in the very near future.

Buddies
3rd Class buddied up with children in the Junior Room helping them with coding using our Beebots. They also guided them on how to play with giant board games in the school yard.
The Music Man
We were sad to say goodbye to ‘Ray’ our music man! Ray visited us every week. We learned all about listening and responding to music while studying some music theory in a fun way. He taught us how to play the ukelele!!! Thank you Ray, hope to see you next year!
Cumann na mBunscol Competition
We done to our girls football team who took part in the Cumann na mBunscol competition recently.
‘Food Dudes’ Award
Murhur N.S. was recently awarded the Food Dudes Plaque. The Food Dudes programme encourages children to sample fruit and vegetables at school. Thank you to children, parents and teachers for taking part in this programme. We are already looking forward to a new Food Dudes programme for next year!
Litter Picking
Children were busy litter picking recently. They are aware of how important it is to care for our community. Thank you to Moyvane Tidy Towns Committee who keep our village clean and tidy.

North Kerry GAA Skills Competition
Congratulations to the 3 boys and 3 girls who represented our school in the North Kerry GAA Skills competition which was held in Duagh recently. They did our school proud and showed great skill and talent on the day. A big thank you to the parents who drove the children to Duagh, without their help it would not be possible to compete in these competitions.
