For Students
Physical ActivityWe understand the crucial role physical activity plays in the overall development and well-being of our pupils. Our school is dedicated to fostering a love for movement and active living through a variety of sports, games, and outdoor activities.
Over a two year cycle, we have a variety of strands to cover. We have two instructors, Eoin for gymnastics and Mark for athletics provided by School Fitness Ireland. The pupils thoroughly enjoy these classes and they greatly enhance their fundamental movement skills.
In either the second or third term each year, first to sixth class go to Ballybunion on the bus for swimming lessons. Each pupil is assessed at the start of the block of lessons and they navigate through their swimming classes each week. They love this time, from jumping off the diving board, to splashing in the smaller pools or even just the few minutes playtime at the end of each lesson.
From regular PE lessons to team sports and free play during break times, we encourage every child to stay active and engaged. Physical activity not only enhances fitness but also improves focus, teamwork, and self-confidence. By promoting a healthy, active lifestyle, we aim to support our pupils’ physical, mental, and emotional development, ensuring they thrive both in and out of the classroom.
