For Students
Arts EducationAt Murhur NS, we believe that creativity is at the heart of a well-rounded education. Arts Education provide pupils with the opportunity to explore their imagination, express themselves, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
This year we are involved in a lovely art project with Creative Schools. We have a creative associate, Jeannine Storan that visits our school. She comes and the pupils are always very excited to part-take in her fun and expressive workshops. She uses creativity and problem solving ideas to assist the children to produce their own personal stamp on art. A number of pupils are involved in a Creative School Council. They meet and have a safe environment to draw and explore art. Jeannine is also helping us design some props to showcase when we walk this year in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Listowel.
We are involved in another creative arts project also this year, Blast. Jonathan Kelliher is our Blast associate and he visits us every Thursday to teach Irish traditional dance. The pupils are thoroughly enjoying this time. It has thought them discipline and composure, worked on their gross motor control and introduced them to steps and traditions of our native dance.
Matt visits us also on a Tuesday to teach us tin whistle. He is teaching some pupils the drums also. Join us for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year in Listowel.
Through hands-on activities in painting, drawing and tin whistle, children can discover their unique talents and build confidence in their abilities. We encourage every child to find joy and inspiration through the arts.
